python-tables-lib software package provides hierarchical database for Python based on HDF5 (extension), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-tables-lib
python-tables-lib is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-tables-lib package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-tables-lib *
You will get with python-tables-lib package name, version, architecture and description in a table
